Spiderman and the Fantastic Four (Three?)
The Fantastic Four verses Galactus. The Big Guy never had a chance!
Philip Keffer and I playing in the top 8. My "Fortress of Solitude" Any Hero won the game for me.
The top 4 players: Duncan Yuen, Myles Head, David Marotta and Karl Borst. We were all glad to have made it to the top 4!
David John Marotta getting ready to play Duncan Yueu for the championship.
Duncan Yueu and David John Marotta about to start playing the final game. Duncan defeated me with two well-timed "Black Knights" against my Marauders. The first was followed up with an 8 Strength power card, and the second with a lowly 3 Multi-power power card. I had a 2 intellect placed on the Marauders. And no power cards in hand. Duncan had a negate placed to prevent my offensive play of Vertigo. You can read all about it at http://www.davidjohnmarotta.com/op/nat98.html
Brendon and Megan helped pick out my prizes. These OverPower original art (Black Cat from the original training card and Sabertooth from his strength 7 special) are now framed and hanging in their rooms. My best prize was the title "The White King of OverPower" given out at their site! The last White King was Magneto, and I am proud to be following his reign. Tournaments will soon commence in Charlottesville to pick 8 "White Pawns" a title which will be earned by taking first in a tournament run by The White King. Anyone who wins three tournaments can advance to Bishop or Knight. Winning five tournaments will earn the honor of White Rook.
I snapped this picture as she was flying overhead. This young girl is perhaps the youngest player to play in the OverPower Nationals. Those of you who faced this dread champion of truth, justice and the American way know that "NOBODY messes with SuperGirl!"
